Internet Radio Vinyl Edition

What the app knows about you

Short version: no account, no sign-in, no advertising trackers. How your phone moves never leaves the device. Everything that does go out is listed below — all of it, with the reason.

This is an English rendering of the German privacy policy, which is the authoritative one.

Controller

Konsole Game Labs GmbH, Berlin. Address and representation are in the legal notice.

First, because it matters most: the motion data

The app reads your phone’s accelerometer to work out how steadily you are holding it. Those readings do not leave the device. They are neither stored nor transmitted nor analysed — they steer playback in the current moment and are gone afterwards.

There are no movement profiles, no location derived from sensor data and no sharing with anyone. If you don’t want the mechanic, switch it off in the settings; the app then behaves like an ordinary radio and the sensor is never touched.

When you search for a station

Station search queries a directory we operate. What is transmitted: your search term, the country you picked if any, and — unavoidably — your IP address.

The purpose is answering your query. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: without this transmission there is no result, and search is the core of the app. Queries are not combined into profiles. Server logs are deleted after ⟨number⟩ days.

When you listen to a station

The audio does not come from us. It comes straight from the station’s own server. The moment the needle comes down, your device opens a connection there — and whoever runs that server sees your IP address and the app’s identifier, exactly as with any other radio app.

We have no influence over that, and we do not learn which station you are listening to. What the operator does with those connection details is covered by their own privacy policy. The same applies to a station you add yourself by pasting an address.

What we measure — and what we don’t

We count how many people use the app and whether a purchase went through. Nothing beyond that. There are no advertising IDs, no cross-app tracking, no sharing with ad networks and no profiling.

What is transmitted:

  • An installation identifier. A random number created when you install. It belongs to the installation, not to you: it contains nothing about your device and nothing about you, and it is gone when you delete the app. Reinstalling creates a new one.
  • Events without content. That the app was opened or sent to the background, that a session started, that a purchase completed. Which station is playing, what you search for and how steadily you hold the phone are explicitly not included.
  • Where the installation came from. Whether someone reached the store through an ad. That is a number per campaign, not a link to a person.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is knowing whether the app is used and whether purchases work; the mechanism is deliberately built so that it needs to identify nobody in order to do that. The recipient is our own reporting; nothing is sold on.

You can object to this measurement at any time (Art. 21 GDPR) — the app’s settings have a switch for it. Everything else keeps working unchanged.

Purchases

Turntables, tonearms, styli and the two mechanisms are handled through the App Store or Google Play. We never see payment data. The app only learns from the store whether a purchase is valid — no name, no card number, no billing address.

Apple and Google are the controllers for the payment itself, under their own privacy policies: Apple · Google.

What stays on the device

Your favourites, their order, your favourite station, every setting, the awards you have earned and the stations you added yourself live only on the phone. They are not transmitted to us and not synced across devices — there is no account that could do that.

“Clear local data” in the settings removes all of it. Purchased content stays, because it lives with the store and not with us.

Permissions

  • Motion sensor — for the mechanic. As above: the readings stay on the device.
  • Internet — for station search and for the audio.
  • Notifications (Android) — to show the current station on the lock screen.

No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone. The microphone entry iOS shows in its settings comes from the audio library that mixes the station and the needle sounds — the app records nothing and never requests the permission.

This website

The page you are reading sets no cookies, embeds no third-party fonts, maps or tracking pixels, and sends nothing to analytics services. The server logs the usual access data (IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier) for operational security; the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. These logs are deleted after ⟨number⟩ days.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. As there is no account and no age declaration we cannot verify this — but we process nothing that identifies a person in any case.

Your rights

You have the rights set out in Art. 15 to 21 GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Write to datenschutz@konsole.game.

One limitation we should state plainly: we process no data by which we could identify you (Art. 11 GDPR). So in response to an access request there is generally nothing we can hand over — not out of reluctance, but because nobody in our data could be you. What is on your phone, you can delete there yourself.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Changes

If what the app processes changes, this page changes with it. Last updated: .
