Internet radio app for iOS and Android
The radio app that wants to be held still
Internet Radio Vinyl Edition is an internet radio app whose playback responds to how the device moves. The phone's accelerometer drives a virtual record: keep the device still and the stream plays. Move it too much and the needle jumps out of the groove, cutting the sound.
Listen to web radio free, with no account and no paywall in front of a station. What costs money sits on the shelf — never in front of the sound.
How it works
Three steps and the record plays
Motion-controlled radio means the phone is the turntable, not the remote.
01
Find a station
Search returns internet radio streams from Germany and internationally. No account, no sign-up, no paywall.
02
Drop the needle
The tonearm lowers onto the record and the platter spins up. 45 RPM is the default, switchable to 33⅓ for a slower evening.
03
Hold still
As long as the device rests, the stream plays. Get restless and the app warns, then scratches, then throws the needle out of the groove.
- 4
- motion states: steady, drifting, scratching, needle off
- 45
- revolutions per minute by default, 33⅓ selectable
- ±25%
- more motion tolerance with the best tonearm
- −40%
- less scratching with the finest stylus
- 22
- awards, from one quiet minute to a hard night shift
Features
A turntable, not a player screen
Sensor, not chance
The accelerometer decides how calmly the needle tracks. The response is scaled: a wobble drifts, a jolt scratches, a knock throws the needle out.
Station search
Search a web radio directory, keep favourites in your own order, and set one station as the primary favourite for an instant start.
45 and 33⅓ RPM
Speed is a real decision, not decoration: slower means a calmer picture and a different rhythm to the evening.
Sound, haptics and colour
Every state arrives four ways: colour, shape, sound and vibration. That keeps the app usable in a pocket and for people who cannot tell the colours apart.
Reduced motion
Every animation has a calm variant. Contrast meets WCAG AA and touch targets are at least 44 × 44 points.
Sensor data stays local
Motion evaluation runs on the device and only drives playback.

Upgrades you can hear
Tonearms and styli are not skins. They change how much movement playback survives.
More tolerance
A better tonearm keeps the needle in the groove under stronger movement — up to 45 percent more tolerance than the standard arm.
Less scratching
Finer styli cut scratching by up to 70 percent. The stream stays clean where it would previously have broken up.
Hardcore Mode
The one thing on the shelf that makes the app harder. Full scale drops from 1.6 to 0.35 m/s² — a tap on the table is enough and the needle is off.
Auto-Reverse
After thirty minutes the side has finished. With Auto-Reverse the turntable flips it for you; without it, things stay quiet until you turn it over.
Awards
Stillness gets counted
Unbroken minutes
What gets counted is how long the needle stays in the groove. One jump ends the run. That makes holding still the app's actual skill.
22 of them, ten of them hard
From the first quiet minute to two hours of marble. Ten hang on Hardcore Mode and stay visible even without it — a grid with holes explains what the purchase buys better than a sales pitch does. Gold is reserved for tier ten.

FAQ
Common questions
What is Internet Radio Vinyl Edition?
Internet Radio Vinyl Edition is an internet radio app for iOS and Android whose playback is tied to the movement of the device. The phone's accelerometer drives a virtual record: keep the device still and the stream plays. Move it too much and the needle jumps out of the groove, cutting the sound.
Is the radio app free?
Yes, and with no advertising. Station search and playback are free and need no account. The only thing that costs money is the Little Shop: turntables, tonearms and styli that change how much movement the needle puts up with. Access to stations is never behind a paywall.
Which devices does the app run on?
The app is built in Flutter and runs on iPhone from iOS 16 and on Android from 7.0. There is no iPad version: the mechanic measures how steadily a hand holds the device, and a tablet sits on a table. It is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Do I have to keep the phone perfectly still?
Small movements are tolerated. The app has five states: steady, drifting, scratching, needle off and suspended. Before the sound cuts out, the drifting state warns you with sound, haptics and colour, leaving time to set the device down again. And when you are out and about, pocket mode rests the mechanic entirely.
What happens when the needle jumps?
The stream cuts out audibly, the tonearm is thrown aside, and the quiet run ends. Playback resumes only once the needle is set down again. Better tonearms and styli from the Little Shop raise motion tolerance by up to 45 percent and cut scratching by up to 70 percent.
Does the app work without motion control?
Yes. Every animation and motion response has a reduced-motion variant, and pocket mode suspends motion evaluation so the radio keeps playing normally in a jacket pocket.
Which radio stations can I listen to?
Station search queries a web radio directory and returns internet radio streams from Germany and internationally. Stations can be searched, saved as favourites and reordered.
What happens to my motion data?
Motion evaluation runs on the device. The sensor data only drives playback and does not leave the phone.
Glossary
Terms used in the app
- Tonearm
- The arm carrying the needle across the record. In the app it sets how much movement playback survives.
- Stylus
- The tip that tracks the groove. Finer styli produce less scratching under the same movement.
- Needle jump
- The needle leaves the groove, the sound cuts out and the quiet run ends.
- RPM
- Revolutions per minute. 45 is the default, 33⅓ the slower alternative.
- Steady
- The normal state. The device rests and the record plays undisturbed.
- Drifting
- The early warning. Movement is rising and the app speaks up before anything happens.
- Scratching
- Audible interference over the stream while the movement continues.
- Quiet run
- The number of unbroken minutes with the needle in the groove.
- Side
- Thirty minutes, then it has finished — like a real record. Turn it over, or let Auto-Reverse do it.
- Little Shop
- Where turntables, tonearms, styli and the two mechanisms live.
